Hapifork: the “Slimming Coach” fork

Fight obesity and digestive problems with a fork that vibrates when you eat way too fast. Such is the crazy gamble of a French company by the name of HapiLabs, founded in California by Fabrice Boutain. The prototype fork is intended to be discreet and practical and could even teach us to take our time at the table. The Hapifork is equipped with a diode, a USB port and is equipped with software allowing its users to be connected to their computer or smartphone and to measure their progress over time (frequency of ingestion , coaching program, evaluation of your performance) with the aim of improving his eating habits.

Invented by Frenchman Jacques Lépine, the design of the Hapifork was based on scientific studies suggesting that by eating more slowly, weight loss would be possible as well as a minimization of digestive problems and gastric reflux.

“During a meal, the feeling of satiety is felt after 20 minutes . The faster you eat, the more you eat,” the company explains on the Kickstarter site. More concretely, the fork starts to vibrate as soon as its user eats too quickly. Philippe Monteiro da Rocha, co-founder of the company Hapifork explains the objective of this smart fork “It’s a fork that allows you to eat more slowly”, before advancing: “If the interval between two bites is too short , it will alert you by emitting a small vibration in the handle to warn you that you are eating too quickly and that you need to slow down a little”.

In addition to counting the mouthfuls , the fork will be a bit stressful by calling you to order as soon as the sensors hidden in its handle are triggered. You will have a 10 second break before resuming eating. No more rushing “Eat slowly. Lose weight. You will feel good”. This is the Hapifork creed.

A fork that advocates “eating habits”

A range that is therefore strongly in line with the methods that recommend:

  • Re-balance your diet
  • Re-adapt your eating habits

In this case, this range is particularly useful in terms of rehabilitating old eating habits, which are too often bad: it is clear that fewer and fewer people devote to each of their meals the importance they should have.

On CalculateYoursBMI, this is also the reason why we often decry all the different diets available on the market: any deprivation is harmful. Only good eating habits can help you regain a healthy weight.

Marketing of the Hapifork fork

This gadget should be marketed in 2013 in the United States, for the modest sum of 99 dollars (about 75 euros). His arrival is scheduled for 2014 in France.

Leave your comments on this page if you have an opinion on this fork.
