Obesity Buzz Video: Rewind the Future
It’s a shocking video, very interesting, which evokes obesity and which has been buzzing for a few days. The video (which you can see below), was commissioned by Strong4Life : a movement started in Atlanta by the authorities responsible for children’s health (1) .
Strong4Life seeks to educate children but also (and above all) parents . Reaching parents is the successful objective of this video entitled “Rewind the Future”.
Indeed, the video presents a person in a state of morbid obesity, on an operating table. The video retraces, in reverse, the course of this man until his early childhood. The message is clear: obesity does not happen overnight . It is a long-term process, notably through bad eating habits, which leads to obesity problems. Characterized by a BMI that is far too high , obesity is also the issue for parents vis-à-vis their children.
The translation was made by the Koreus site (2) . As of August 10, 2014, the video has already been viewed nearly half a million times on YouTube.
Target parents
Strong4Life wants to help parents become aware of the possible consequences of a totally unbalanced and disorganized diet. For adults who have a BMI over 30, then the mortality rate is increased by 44% on average. In adults with a BMI greater than 40, this rate is increased by 151% ( see our file on this subject ).
In France, the INPES curves are used to assess your child’s corpulence, according to gender (girl or boy). To do this, simply go to the Child BMI section , located in the menu on the left of the site. You will then have all the necessary tools to know where your son or daughter is.
Obesity is generally not a fatality : in the majority of cases, it can be avoided. This is also the message that the video wishes to convey: if we look at the life of this man, then we realize that there have been many opportunities to modify his behavior between the treadmill, the advice doctors, etc. There are a multitude of solutions to improve your build and thus improve your health in a very general way.
