Jean-Luc Loiseau finishes his walk against obesity
Jean-Luc Loiseau, who has himself experienced morbid obesity, had decided to act at his level, for himself, and for others. By launchinghis big walk throughout the France, he wanted to raise awareness, support them, and especially that together they share their experiences.
In this sense, Jean-Luc Loiseau launched “Dans la foulée“, a 1000 km France walking tour against obesity. This great marchended this weekend.
Jean-Luc Loiseau completed his lap of France
For five months, not only did he walk, but above all he met other people, obese or not, and from various backgrounds. They accompanied him on his marches, partially or totally. Thanks to this, they were able to go beyond the usual doctor-patient relationship that obese or overweight people sometimes face. In total, more than a thousand people shared his trip.
Finally, Sunday, September 28, Jean-Luc Loiseau completed his France tour on foot. “In the wake of JLL”, it was 1000 km, fifty stages from 8 to 25 km, and many exchanges with people who spontaneously followed this momentum.
Building momentum
This 48-year-old business executive, who went from 211 to 120 kg in three years, wanted to prove that you can get out of obesity and lose a hundred kilos while being healthy.
It is precisely in this perspective that the approach of “In the wake” and the next steps of JLL is placed: to create a click, a momentum, even an awareness, for him and for others; against a sedentary lifestyle, against obesity, to raise awareness and exchange. He shared his struggle with other walkers, and thanks to his partners (Sport for All, INSEP, UNSS, Ministry of Sports, doctors, laboratories …) they were able to denounce obesity, discrimination and diets.
On the program, walking, discussions, speakers (doctors, psychologists, athletes …) around conferences and debates. Started on May 4 in Lille in the region most affected by obesity France, Jean-Luc Loiseau’s France tour ended in Strasbourg, a city with high European symbolism, which can serve as a springboard to expand his project beyond the French borders.
Beyond physical appearance
By encouraging exchanges through this France walking tour, JLL also aimed to demonstrate that one can be obese and active. And thus encourage not to consider the physical as a difference, a barrier between people. Its goal: to go beyond these collective marches, to fight the difficulties and inequalitiesof which the obese are victims in everyday life.
And now?
Nowother projectsare pointing the tip of their nose for Jean-Luc Loiseau: book of testimonies of these 1000 km, a second France shorter tour but with more participants: from 300 to 3000 per stage, and a tour of European capitals!
