How to make a good detox drink at home?
The French are increasingly concerned about their health and weight. Thus, they are more and more likely to favor detox drinks. Tea remains their preferred option, but they are also adept at fruit and vegetable juices and herbal teas. On the other hand, only 29% prepare them at home(1). However, they are healthier when homemade, and often tastier too. Here are some recipe suggestions.
Homemade detox drink no1: Sassy water
It is a flavored water without added sugars, very draining and energizing. It owes its name (and composition) to Cynthia Sass, an American journalist, who claims to have lost all the weight of her pregnancy by consuming it every day. To prepare it, you must:
- 2 liters of water
- 1 tbsp grated ginger
- 1 smallcucumber, cut into slices
- 1untreated lemon, cut into pieces
- A dozen mint leaves
The ingredients are mixed in a large pitcher, which must then be placed in the refrigerator for 2 hours. Then, Sassy water can be consumed throughout the day. Small downside: it does not keep more than two days in the fridge because beyond that, it loses all its properties.
Boisson detox no2: Green smoothies
Be careful, there is smoothie and smoothie. Commercial ones often contain additives or even added sugar. So it is better to prepare them at home. As for the composition, everyone to do according to his preferences and the fruits and vegetables available. The main thing is to focus on local and seasonal foods, to enjoy all the benefits. For example, we can achieve this one:
- A handful of lamb’s lettuce
- 2 pears
- 1 kiwi
- 1 stalk of fresh celery with its leaves
- A little water
Just put all the ingredients in the blender and mix the whole. Because yes, the advantage of the smoothie is that it retains the fibersof the plants, excellent for transit and therefore, to find aflat stomach.
Detox drink # 3 : Lemon-ginger green tea
Another great detox classic with this homemade tea, very thirst-quenching and draining. It is also recommended in case of immune weakness, thanks to its antioxidants. To make it you will need (for a small teapot):
- A small handful of green tea
- An inch of fresh ginger
- An untreated lemon
- Simmering water
It is then enough to peel the ginger and cut it into pieces, then cut the lemon into coarse rings, put them in a teapot with the tea and pour the hot water into it. A few minutes of infusionare enough for the ingredients to release their detoxifying virtues. Small bonus: in case of cold and sore throat, you can add a little honey. You can also add a few pieces of fresh turmeric root.
DrinkNo.4: Classic herbal teas
Our grandmothers often recommend Herbal Teasto treat the little sores of everyday life. These remedies, which sometimes seem fanciful, are however far from being exceeded. Yes, plants have undeniable purifying properties. So you can make your mix according to your problems, knowing that:
- some plants such as fennel, green anise, artichoke, verbena or mint have digestive and hepato-protective properties;
- others, such as quackgrass, pilosella , liquorice, meadowsweet or cherry tail are diuretics and boost kidney activity;
- finally, some are beneficial for detoxifying the skin, such as burdock, birch, wild pansy, chamomile or nettle.
Bulk plants are often available in organic or health food stores, but also from herbalists.
Drink # 5 : Apple Cinnamon Tea
Another detox drink that is easy to make at home. It would also have “fat burning” virtues – cinnamon, rich in cinnamaldehyde, could indeed lead to lipolysis. It is simple to prepare and can be eaten both hot and cold. All you have to do is:
- Cut anappleinto strips and put them, as desired, in a teapot or carafe.
- Then add one to two cinnamon sticks, according to your taste.
- Drizzle with hot or cold water.
- Let stand for an hour in a cool place.
If you are a fan of spices , you can enrich the basic recipe with a few sprigs of star anise (star anise).
Drink # 6 : Summer Fruit Water
Here is a homemade recipe for fruity detox water, which is really delicious and beneficial. It can adapt to different fruits, but we recommend the watermelon-melon duo, rich in vitamins and summer flavors. To prepare it, you need:
- One and a half liters of plant water
- Half a melon, peeled and detailed in cubes
- A quarter of watermelon, seeded, peeled and cut into cubes
- An untreated lemon, cut into thin slices (optional)
- A handful of fresh mint leaves
Then simply mix all the ingredients in a carafe, place it in the refrigerator for a good hour, and enjoy.
Of course, there are other detox drinks to prepare yourself, at home. The most important thing: bet on natural and raw ingredients (fruits, vegetables, plants, spices, even seaweed), with detoxifying properties and avoid any addition of sugar.
The principles of detox
Detox as it is described today claims that the body, when subjected to excessive aggression (pollution, poor diet, stress, sedentary lifestyle, etc.), can no longer eliminate this waste. The emunctory organs would then need help to maintain their protective and depurative role. It would therefore be beneficial to put your body at rest, by adoptinghealthy lifestyleMeasures : light diet, plenty of hydration, restful sleep andGentle Physical Activity .
The principle of the detox drink is therefore part of this logic:
- it allows you to Abundantly Hydrates , to drain the body, boost digestion and “wash” the kidneys;
- it must be rich in micronutrients, bothvitaminsand minerals or antioxidant substances;
- It’s often low in calories — or at least withfull calories, preferably.
