Milk cream would protect against diabetes
If dairy products such as yogurts, cottage cheese, cream but also varieties of cheese are not the allies of the silhouette, it would nevertheless seem that they can bring benefits against type 2 diabetes.
The cream, a medicine like no other
Heavy cream or liquid cream, ingredients appreciated by consumers in the production of sweet and savory recipes, but ingredients also feared by nutritionists and dieticians. Yet these ingredients would act like a most natural medicine and would reduce and fight against the risk of diabetes.
According to a study (1) , it was found that individuals consuming at least 8 servings of creamy dairy products , would have 23% less risk of developing type 2 diabetes (compared to other consumers).
This study was presented recently (September 15) at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) in Vienna (Austria), on the occasion of this conference which takes place once a year.
It is a Swedish Doctor, Ulrika Ericson, who conducted the research and who provided the following explanation: certain dietary fats significantly modify the metabolism of individuals but also the sensitivity to insulin. As a result, consumers of creamy dairy products would be better protected from diabetes . The Doctor also noted that fatty acids, which are not recommended and can promote weight gain, would also reduce the risk of contracting type 2 diabetes.
A study of women
The 14-year study of women aged 45 to 74 revealed the following points:
- On the one hand, creamy dairy products reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes by 23% when consumed in large quantities (at least 8 servings per day)
- On the other hand, the consumption of fresh cream also reduces the possibility of developing diabetes by 15%.
- And finally, the absence of a link between the consumption of low-fat dairy products and the risk of the presence of diabetes in individuals.
As a result, this study has shown that creamy dairy products, from fresh cream cheese, if it turns out that they would be harmful to the body in terms of weight, are a considerable asset in the fight against diabetes .
Ulrika Ericson clarified: “ Our research suggests that, unlike animal fats , dairy-specific fats may have a role in the prevention of type 2 diabetes. ”
Indeed, the consumption of meat is automatically associated with a higher risk of contracting type 2 diabetes (regardless of the fat content of this meat).
