ORIGINS OF PECK’S IDEAL WEIGHT & EXPLANATIONS

Peck’s formula  (1,2)  is:

Let T be the height in inches, then if the age is greater than 18:

Ideal weight (male) = -130.736 + (4.064 x T)
Ideal weight (female) = -111.621 + (3.636 x T)

And if the age is under 18:

Ideal weight (man) = -59.6035 + (5.2878 x T) – (0.123939 * T 2 ) + (0.00128936 * T 3 )
Ideal weight (woman) = -77.55796 + (6.93728 x T) – (0.171703 * T 2 )+ (0.001726 * T3 )

The result is given in pounds, which must be converted into kilograms.
