EFT to combat the causes of overweight
It is in the pages of the Journal du Dimanche (1) that Charlotte Langrand offers a zoom on a new practice called EFT or “Emotional Freedom Technique”. The latter is presented as a method that frees people who suffer from their recurring fears and anxieties. Obesity is one of them !
A new method of well-being?
This practice promotes itself by ensuring happiness for all. What about?
EFT is a clever mix of alternative medicine such as acupuncture, kinesiology, hypnosis, sophrology, chiropractic, positive psychology… Designed by doctors from different backgrounds, EFT consists of performing gentle and light tapping on specific areas of the face and hands . These areas correspond, in fact, to Chinese acupressure points.
It was a personal development coach, Gary Craig, who popularized and simplified this method in the 1990s. He then opened his schools, created a federation and offered training. On the official website of the EFT the people trained by G.Graig are listed there. Explanations are given, describing this method as revolutionary with extraordinary results obtained.
An arrival in force which perhaps lacks perspective in France?
It is through one of G. Gray’s students, through the publication of his book by Marabout editions, thanks to great support from the online press release and the testimony of Dr. Frédéric Rosenfled, that this method arrives in the hexagon. He says that EFT works very well on psychotic patients and on children. The playful side surely! Through his experiences, he explains that EFT, while incredibly novel, is still so easy to replicate that, alone within the four walls of our own home, each of us can experience its benefits. This is, in fact, what would make its strength. A scientific method, fun and easy to get around !
Prudence and common sense
Because it is necessary to develop these two values, it is necessary to ask the right questions. Indeed, while the EFT Federation website announces that this health discovery has been ranked the most useful for the last century, isn’t that a little too good to be true? The ideal is to go to the official website (2) which explains, through a video, how this method is set up and what are the entry points of the energy meridians to tap in order to resolve emotional concerns.
It is recommended, as in a session of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy, to repeat positive phrases related to the recurring problem. It is through the combined action of tapping and the anchoring of positive phrases in the unconscious that the emotional is “cleansed” of its initial trauma. This cocktail of soft techniques is therefore mainly used in psychotherapy , this branch which sometimes can end up as a kind of catch-all between psychiatric medicine, psychology and quackery.
During a session, the “patient” is listened to, his problems are identified and the energy points are stimulated thanks to tapping and the introduction of positive phrases. This process will, according to information obtained on websites that offer this method, wash away negative emotions such as sadness, anger, anxiety, allergies, obesity, phobias and even “ocd” (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder).
