Health and slimming: tips from a British biochemist
Biochemist Rodney Bilton, professor at John Moores University, has been working for more than fifteen years on the foods that should be favored to stay in good shape and to keep the line. Based in Liverpool, Rodney Bilton published a study taken up by several British newspapers including the Daily Mail (1) and the Daily Telegraph (2) . Explanations on the “tips and tricks” of this biochemist.
Yes to water, no to tofu and smoothies
The British specialist confirms that drinking enough water is extremely important. The goal is to drink 1.5 liters of water per day. These recommendations are therefore 8 to 10 glasses of water per day. He found that it could reduce back pain by almost 80%. Lumbago and dorsalgia will be filled.
Moreover, even though drinking before going to bed can fill the bladder, for the biochemist and one of his colleagues, Dr. S. Sinatra, professor at the Washington University of Cardiology, it prevents the feeling of hunger in all of the people who have followed this experience. Finally, staying hydrated allows you to better eliminate toxins and therefore promote weight loss.
Another observation, Rodney Bilton warns consumers about the risks of tofu (soybean paste) which, according to his study, would block certain essential minerals such as magnesium and calcium, among others.
The smoothie, meanwhile, is not recommended by the biochemist. Based on fruit and therefore fructose which, even if it is natural, remains a sweet product. It is therefore a question of not abusing it.
Do not heat oil, eat underripe bananas, etc.
Do not heat olive oil was already a known recommendation, because of the carcinogenic effects that it gives off when cooked. But you should also avoid mashed potatoes and favor green bananas (and not so-called plantain bananas). These recommendations are “unpublished” in the scientific community.
A few explanations : for Professor Bilton, eating unripe bananas provides the body with energy that can be used over the long term. Bananas that have not had time to ripen are much more loaded with starch than the others. This starch is not digested in the small intestine and its assimilation therefore becomes much slower. A hormone, glucagon, is then secreted. This will help the body burn fat. Ideal in the case of a diet.
Another surprising fact in the research of Rodney Bilton: avoid crushing his boiled potatoes in the form of mashed potatoes. These release more than a quarter of extra sugar. Thus, they become much more caloric than if they are consumed in their simplest form. Even stronger, the mash is more detrimental in this for health than the fried potato, the one in the form of chips! Would you believe it?
From there to all of these recommendations giving rise to a future “trendy” diet, there is only one step: just for a New York, London or Parisian star to take it up on his own (at the image of what has already happened for many very popular diets, see our diets section to convince you of this ).
In the meantime, limiting entries according to exits remains a proven solution and also a more pragmatic solution. Move and eat accordingly!
