To reach this conclusion, Meerman and Brown observed what happened to the triglyceride molecules contained in the muscles. During weight loss, metabolism flushes fat out of the body. It does this by releasing a mixture of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Studies then showed that to burn 10 kg of fat, it was necessary to breathe no less than 29 kg of oxygen, producing 28 kg of CO 2 and 11 kg of H 2 O (from water).
After specifying certain calculations, the two scientists were able to establish that nearly 84% of fat is evacuated in the form of CO 2 by the lungs . Out of 10 kilos lost, no less than 8.4 kilos are eliminated via the respiratory organs. The rest turns into water to be evacuated via bodily fluids (mainly urine, tears or perspiration). But has this new discovery revolutionized the way to lose weight?
