Lose weight through meditation…

Is it really necessary that scientific studies validate millennial physical and mental practices(1) so that finally certain evidence is imposed on us? This is certainly the case with regard to meditation techniques since they are finally recognized, thanks to scientistsand the experiments conducted by them.

The contribution of mind-body techniques

Multiple scientific studies, with the support of modern medical techniques such as Magnetic Radiation Imaging (MRI), are revolutionizing our relationship with the world and with ourselves. An experiment presented in the “American Journal of Preventive Medicine” shows that the practice of relaxation methods, with conscious breathing, reduces stress, among other things.

It is certainly not for nothing that27% of French people try to practice techniques that connect the body and the mind. Among others, 9% of the French population practice there (at least once a week for more than a year) with a preference for meditation techniques (8%), yoga (5%), sophrology (2%), qigong (2%) and tai chi (1%).

In fact, consciously settling into the “here and now” forces our thoughts to “fixate on the present moment”. In this way we realize that our actions, and therefore our actions, are not always in harmony with our needs or desires.

Meditationreduces stress states and those resulting from inflammationlike other body and breathing practices that require a certain cerebral concentration. The Nutri Net-Santé coordination team chose a sample of the French population to ask them questions about the activities, their age and the frequency of their “awareness-raising” practices.

The scientists conclude that regular exercise of these mind-body techniques halves the risk of obesity.

So, what about weight regulation?

It is proven, through this experiment, that breathing techniques that combine “body and mind” would be responsible for a lower risk of overweight or obesity. Regular sessions of meditation, yoga, Chinese gymnastics, sophrology combine to reduce the risk of obesity by 50%.

But establishing this in his daily life, does not happen with a wave of a magic wand. It would be much morea way of being and behavingthat, like anything we want to acquire, takes time and requires energy. However, what relates to education for learning, is impregnated in us and, unlike regimes, marks our entire being, is inscribed in our memory within our cells.

So if your goal is to lose a few pounds and you are aware of putting a bite of hazelnut spread in your mouth, you will gradually learn not to make this irrational gesture.

As for the excess kilos, what the scientists demonstrate is that gentle psycho-corporal techniques with a respiratory aim make it possible to reduce Compulsive eating behaviorstag. Any concentration and focused and targeted attention therefore have proven effectiveness in acquiring a healthy lifestyle and lifestyle.

The easiest way is to first try to focus your attention on an object (the most famous being the famous raisin *) or simply on your breathing. Just a few seconds…Appeal to his attention, his concentration, his state of consciousness. That’s all!

It looks easy but, for all that, it is not self-evident.
