Michelle Obama launches school obesity program
The USA has been experiencing a real scourge for years: that of obesity, especially childhood obesity. The daily challenge, taken up by American public health, aims to raise awareness among the entire population that is or could be affected by this disease. This is also the objective of our site: to make people aware of the various problems relating to obesity.

In 2008, obesity cost US taxpayers nearly $150 million due to the direct consequences it can have on the health system: cardiovascular problems, psychological and sociological problems (withdrawal, isolation, etc. .) on those affected.
In the United States, nearly one in three adults and one in five children suffer from this pathology (now considered the first non-infectious epidemic in the world).
In 2010, the problem aroused the attention of the White House, and the “First Lady” put in the crosshairs of the media and politicians, a major problem that they must deal with. It was then that she created the “Let’s Move” association , which seeks to raise awareness among all populations about the usefulness of playing sports, both for its physical and psychological benefits.
Michelle OBAMA now continues to multiply her appearances, public interventions in order to effectively communicate her message. Obviously, she manages to capture the attention of her compatriots since it seems that for the first time since 2010, the obesity rate among children aged 4 to 12 has not increased.
More recently, we find her again on February 28, 2013, to launch her new “Let’s Move, Active Schools” program, which is a continuation of her past initiatives in favor of the fight against obesity. Thanks to this new action, it wishes in particular to review the sports education provided to students during their schooling, by providing these establishments with the equipment necessary for the implementation of sports activity programs.
Funded within the framework of a public-private partnership, to the tune of 148 million dollars, the objective is to manage to avoid the increase in the rate of childhood obesity, to see to reduce it by providing education at the same time useful for public health, educational and entertaining for children who today are only one in three to exercise regularly in schools.
Thus, the 1st Lady intends to give a new flavor to sport in the minds of children.
