Nathalie BRETON’s 30-day challenge goes viral on Facebook

Everyone will tell you, and you know it for sure, playing sports is good for your health. Yes, but getting started on your own is sometimes difficult, the motivation not always being there.

This is what Mrs. Nathalie BRETON, massage therapist in Saint-Constant, Quebec, said to herself.

This woman therefore decided to launch a challenge, initially intended for her friends, on her professional Facebook page. Aimed at people wishing to strengthen their abdominal belt like her, she offers a program to be carried out over 30 days.

A great mobilization

On her Facebook page (1) , Nathalie BRETON explains that she wanted to get into sport but didn’t want to do it alone. This is why, at the start, on May 17, she launched this little challenge. But she didn’t think this one would make any kind of buzz.

Indeed, today, more than 500,000 people have registered to participate. There are also many comments, making people react, on the event page.

The challenge itself

The challenge would therefore take place from June 1 to 30, 2014. The goal is not to lose weight, but to improve your posture by strengthening your abs.

Concretely, Nathalie BRETON suggests doing the plank exercise once a day, increasing the holding time day by day. To do the plank exercise, you have to get into a push-up position, with your forearms resting on the ground. Sheath the whole body, keeping your back as straight as possible, tucking in your stomach as much as possible. You have to breathe well, while keeping your head in line with your back, and maintain the position.

The program proposed by Nathalie BRETON is to hold 20 seconds on the 1st and 2nd day, 30 seconds on the 3rd and 4th day, and so on until the 30th day, with a few days of rest as well as variations (up as downward) regarding the duration of maintaining the posture. On the last day she proposes to hold on as long as possible. You will learn more about the “official” program on the corresponding Facebook page (1) .

Nathalie BRETON also reminds us of the importance of warming up properly beforehand. She insists on a good posture of the pelvis and shoulder blades during the exercise. To facilitate the exercise for beginners, it is also possible to position yourself on your knees.

Be careful though

Nathalie BRETON specifies that this challenge was initially personal , that she was inspired by another challenge on Facebook and recalls the importance of being in good health to follow this challenge.

She also advises a medical opinion for those who have a doubt, and would like to know the contraindications.

So we all challenge ourselves for concrete abs? To be continued.
